Meet the First Alert 7 Player of the Week for Week 1: Boyd Cox! Boyd is the quarterback for the Coahoma Bulldogs. He had an incredible performance in Week 1 against Forsan, recording four total touchdowns in the win. Unfortunately, in the third quarter, he went down with an injury that will keep him out for the rest of his senior season.
30-Year Homecoming: Erik Hartman makes Odessa High Return as head coach, played QB 1991-92: Hartman played quarterback for Odessa in 1991 and 1992 and came back as an assistant coach from 2001-2006. His first season as his alma mater’s head coach ended with a 2-7 record and was riddled with injuries, including a season-ending foot injury to the starting quarterback. He is excited to build the program and lead Odessa High’s return to glory.
West Texas FC Fan Brian Hodnett is a nominee for the National Premier Soccer League’s Supporter of the Year Award: Brian Hodnett was West Texas FC’s nominee for the National Premier Soccer League’s Supporter of the Year award. Hodnett found a sport and a team that he is passionate about and allows him the close-knit feel he wants.
Iraan’s Braden Kent gets one more chance to play after cancer diagnosis cut football career short: Iraan football player Braden Kent was diagnosed with leukemia in September 2021. In January 2024, he was pronounced cancer-free. He longed to play football one more time and found the opportunity through his faith and the FCA All-Star Football Game.
Meet UTPB Volleyball’s new head coach, CJ Allard, a man destined to coach volleyball: CJ Allard was born into a volleyball family. His mother played collegiate volleyball at the University of Georgia and has continued to coach volleyball. His father officiated international volleyball and posts the highest winning percentage for a boys’ volleyball coach in the state of Indiana
